The entire social structure of society must change

Single family living is a byproduct of the patriarchy where men seek to control the vulva.

A number of people I know were affected by the recent spate of hurricanes to strike the Southeastern US.  In conversation with one, she and her partner had been forced to leave to “higher ground” in another state, and ended up living with another couple.  She remarked at how joyful it was to be together like that, and mused at how it would be such a better way of living.

Living in community is and continues to be a “fringe” movement in pockets around the developed world.  But in a way, our origins are like this.  The natural and best state of human society is in community.  And it echoes through the plant and animal kingdom as the way that flows most naturally with the universe’s music.

So, what gives?  Why don’t we live this way?  Here we go.

The patriarchy exists for one purpose.  It is to control reproduction.  Somewhere along the line, the male brain determined that controlling reproduction was the way to ensure his personal bloodline moved forward.  A stark reminder of that comes from the pop cultural show Game of Thrones…all about families and power.

Male fear of female power has perverted society and life.  The individual man is afraid of being cuckolded.  The individual man used to be afraid that the child he is raising isn’t his (now we can get a paternity test).  But this is the tail wagging the dog.

As a society, as a race, as humanity, we have better genetic outcomes when women have more choice.  When women sleep around.  The best biological outcome possible is the promiscuous woman and the chaste man.  A man can provide and protect, but it is better if it is not limited to one household, but rather to a community.  A woman can give birth to a genetically superior child if she has many partners when she is fertile.

We know these things:

  • When a female “ruts” with many males, the best sperm wins
  • When a female sleeps with multiple partners, she is more likely to become pregnant
  • When a female has a one night stand or chance encounter with a stranger, she is more likely to become pregnant than if she sleeps with her regular partner

What does this mean?  Novelty has a genetic reward in a successful pregnancy with a higher chance of a successful birth.  A community child-rearing model, with shared responsibility for the health and well-being of the community, has a better chance of raising healthy and well-adjusted children.  It is no accident that many societies live this way, and there are countless examples from the animal kingdom.

But this truth is uncomfortable for many men.
